Civic engagement through street art
Nuart’s Education Program is the largest street art education program in the world, having reached out to over 10,000 children and teenagers since it's inception in 2013. The program covers the history and origins of street art as well as practical skills such as stenciling and wheatpasting techniques. Offering a thorough introduction to the basic tenets of street art, it's aim is to inspire the next generation of street artists and thus ensure the culture’s sustainability.
Street art as we know it today has links to various aspects of visual culture and students are encouraged to consider how street art can serve as a tool for public debate and discourse.
Our hands-on workshops give students the opportunity to practice different styles, techniques and modes of artistic expression in producing their own street art ‘piece’. The works created are then presented to the local community or displayed within the school.
If you are interested in holding a street art workshop at your school please contact Nuart's Education Coordinator Priscila Serrano (E: firstname.lastname@example.org; T: 413 00 786)
