Running time : 72 min
Produced and Directed by Jon Reiss
BOMB IT 2 is the sequel to the explosively popular BOMB IT, which continues in the original’s theme to document worldwide street art. This chapter, which focuses on the evolution of urban art since the release of the first segment nearly 10 years ago, brings light to lesser known meccas for the scene – he visits Jakarta, West Bank, Indonesia, Singapore, Tel Aviv, Estonia and more. As the first film set up the story of the rise of street art and familiarized non-enthusiasts of the implications and demands of the scene.
BOMB IT 2 focuses more on the depiction of street art through culture, and attaches a more episodic feel to the movie. The creators tried to remain free of structure, as the first film was so solidly done, and therefore this film has the freedom to explore deeper meanings and struggles each artist may have during the career. The film-maker, Jon Reiss, makes it clear an artist’s desire to express themselves despite the risks – and indeed, he incurred a few injuries himself investigating the unlikely places street artists paint during the film making process. Follow Jon as he climbs into sewers, visits red ant infested buildings, and fractures his ankle in an Estonian hall of fame while documenting the astonishing creation of some of the decade’s best works of art.
