THUR 05.09: WILDSTYLE
Thursday 5.9 kl. 17.00
Running Time : 82 min
Year : 1983
Writer / Director: Charlie Ahearn
The hugely successful cult film, Wild Style comes to Nuart for its 30th anniversary screening. The movie, known for its raw depiction of the hip hop, breaking, and spray can art scene during the 1980s, follows a faux set of characters through their adventures of love and art – but the real beauty of the story is the fantastic chronicling of real- world hip hop, mc’ing and fantastic throw ups by some of the Godfather’s of the scene – from Grandmaster Flash to Lady Pink. The film, which was voted one of the top 10 rock and roll films by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is brilliant in its realness of the scene during the day, the beautiful shots of early subway art and the forefathers of breakdancing and rap.
