OCEAN (NU) ART
It gives us great pleasure to announce the Ocean (NU) Art project in collaboration with Atlantic Offshore and artist M-City which will kick off this years Nuart Festival. The ship will be painted over the course of three long days (and nights) between 25-27 August in the cities main harbour.
A call late last year started out with, "Would you be interested in painting a boat ?". It turned out the boat was a ship and the ship to be close to 200m long but was yet to be built. Always up for a challenge, we said "sure why not". Turned out the shipyard was in Poland (Solidarity anyone) and with Stavanger's largest expat group being Polish, there seemed to be only one logical choice as to which artist should tackle the project. A meeting with world renowned stencil artist M-City... and the project was on.
The ship went into construction in Gdansk shipyard earlier this year and has just recently finished her final sea trials.
Needless to say we're excited in bringing the project to the city and cementing cultural links between Gdansk and Stavanger whilst once again, providing M-City with another colossal canvas for his ideas and work.
More details on this project coming soon...
