PIXEL PANCHO (IT)
Born in Turin in 1984, Pixelpancho’s passion for art and design led him to the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts followed by the Academy of Fine Arts in Valencia, Spain. During this time he became familiar with the graffiti and street art scenes and, influenced by this world, began using spray cans and marker pens to create artwork on outdoor surfaces while travelling between his hometown of Turin and Valencia.
From his early paintings of a simple robot character, Pixelpancho’s compositions have evolved into more complex representations of a forgotten world in which his mechanized characters are decaying, their iron and rusted copper bodies obsolete. Yet, it is the strength of the physical and gestural references that humanize these robots, which results in the artist's unmistakable style.
Traces of several diverse influences can be found in Pixelpancho’s work, including the historic painter Joaquin Sorolla, surrealist Salvador Dali, the political artist collective ‘El Equipo Cronica’ and contemporary artists Ron English and Takashi Murakami.
